This month our Hope Kids are doing a series called Amped by Orange. As I was preparing to speak to our kids about Confidence, I was so inspired! Our main point is, “Confidence is living like you believe what God says is true.” I love that! We will be talking to the kids about how when we live life with confidence, we find the courage to do what God has called us to do.
What if we carried this confidence into our parenting? I mean, let’s face it, we don’t always have the answers. I can’t tell you how many times in the last week, I have prayed for wisdom to handle certain parenting situations that came up because I had no idea what to do. What if we went into our days fully confident with the knowledge that God has already prepared us for each situation that we will handle that day?
Earlier this week, my prayer was… God, I know that you have already prepared me for this conversation I am about to have. Would you please bring to remembrance what that training involved and what I learned? Would you give me the wisdom to know what I should say and how to say it?
Confidence doesn’t necessarily mean that we just go forward without seeking wisdom, it just changes our perspective. It gives us the assurance that God is who he says he is and that what the Word says about him is true.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him (James 1:5 ESV).”
